Cliff Thorburn makes his first professional snooker tournament 147 maximum break and the first to be made at the World Championship against Terry Griffiths in a second-round match at the 1983 Embassy World Snooker Championship held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. Thorburn won a total of £18,000 for the maximum and highest break.
